EDISON — The Ray Catena Auto Group presented a check Friday for $150,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The presentation took place at the Route 1 Mercedes Benz Center in Edison.
Ray and Elsie Catena have supported many charitable organizations since starting the Ray Catena Auto Group more than 50 years ago. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, they joined forces with the Koman Foundation and in the Catena Campaign for a Cure.
For each new and used car purchased or leased in October from any Ray Catena of dealership, money was set aside in a pool to award to the foundation. The total amount raised from all the franchises and locations, along with additional personal funds added by Elsie and Ray Catena, was $150,000.
"The fight against breast cancer touches so many people," said Ray Catena, founder and president of Ray Catena Motor Cars. "It's a cause we know literally thousands of our customers and employees are passionate about. It's terrific to be able to support such an important organization by sharing our success.
